Last week, a well known Virtual Data Room provider communicated to its clients and users the existence of a potential vulnerability for some PDF documents used in their virtual data room.

This vulnerability does not affect EthosData’s virtual data room. During the last few days, we have been analyzing this potential issue in our platform and with out IRM provider and we can confirm this.

Security is paramount for virtual data room clients. A good data room provider allows to remotely control users rights to documents after they have been uploaded; so that if a deal ends or a user is removed from a project, you can lock down access to the document. In addition to other basic security measures, some data rooms also let users add a personalized watermark to their documents and block the “print screen” key for viewers.

We make a very significant investment in security for our virtual data room, both in terms of technology and processes. In fact, our high standard security and outstanding service were one of the main reasons why we were named 2014 Virtual Data Room Provider Of The Year Asia Pacific Region, 2014 Virtual Data Room Provider Of The Year Spain and 2014 Sustained Excellence In Data Room Services UK.

We will continue to do so and continuously monitor all external threats and potential bugs to maintain our service secure.
